On Juneteenth, I had the incredible opportunity to testify before the New Jersey Senate Public Safety Committee, and let me tell you—every advocate needs to experience this. As a Black woman from Newark, a mom, sister, partner, daughter, firearms instructor, and founder of NaturallyArmed, I brought the voice of real people to the fight for our Second Amendment rights. The vibe in Trenton? Positive on the surface, with amendments offered to the firearm bills under discussion.. But dig deeper, and it’s clear these bills are a violation of our constitutional freedoms, passed under the guise of public safety. The reality? They’re duplicative, piling on laws already on the books—some even proposing weaker penalties than existing ones. It’s like throwing darts to see what sticks, and that doesn’t solve problems.
True public safety means empowering law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families, not turning us into victims while criminals—who don’t follow laws—run free. Over-legislation punishes legal firearms owners, not the bad actors. A firearm is just a tool, like a knife or a cell phone. It’s the person’s intent, driven by underlying issues like economic struggles, social challenges, or mental health crises, that needs the focus—not more laws targeting guns that don’t act on their own. At Naturally Armed, I’ll keep fighting the good fight, using my voice to represent real people in real-life situations. As a child of Newark, I’m here to remind lawmakers that government must address root causes, not scapegoat our Second Amendment rights. I’ll be when a bill comes up, speaking truth as a proud 2A advocate. Join me—get involved, testify, and let’s make our voices heard! #JuneteenthBlaze #2AForever #NaturallyArmed #NewarkStrong #GunRightsVibes
