I was a wife, a mother, a full-time employee, juggling life’s chaos and still searching for who I was outside those roles. The stress of the world weighed heavy, and I needed an outlet. Firearms weren’t new to me-growing up as the child of an Army veteran with law enforcement ties, guns were around, but I only knew basic safety. Not until my forties, when family friends suggested shooting to manage stress, did everything click.
The moment that first cartridge left the barrel at the range, the weight of the world lifted. I felt lighter, focused, alive. I needed more. I got my licenses, dove into the firearms community, and learned-about responsible ownership, the Second Amendment, and the history of firearms in Black and Brown communities. Gun control across this country and in states like New Jersey, New York, California…. are racist and classes and are designed to keep specific groups disarmed and disempowered . As seen by the hugh disparity of wait times , subjective denials and excessive fees related to firearms licensing and permits. The laws don’t just restrict; they block our God-given right to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Firearms became my tool for focus, channeling energy and finding clarity in a chaotic world. Whether it’s the discipline of target practice at the range, the thrill of a match, or the camaraderie of the Second Amendment community, shooting gave me a space to be fully, powerfully me. It’s not just about protection or sport; it’s about stepping into who God meant me to be. That’s why I founded NaturallyArmed. We are here to educate, encourage, and empower communities- women and underserved communities where firearms often carry a negative narrative. We are breaking down barriers, teaching responsible ownership, and showing how shooting can support mental health and stress management . NaturallyArmed offers monthly memberships, community workshops, monthly range events, and one-on-one range buddy sessions ,resources and a community .
Wherever you are on your journey, we have got services to support you. It is not about making everyone a competition shooter; it is about creating safe, non-judgmental spaces for women, people of color, anyone curious about the Second Amendment. Representation matters, and we are here to advocate, engage, and share the love of the pew-pew life. If my journey inspires you to find peace, focus, or empowerment through firearms-or any space that brings clarity-my mission’s accomplished. Join us at Naturally Armed. What are you waiting for? Your journey begins today.
